June is in a risky situation. She has no influence, no allies in Gilead, and no actual plan for how to go about rescuing Hannah. June will have to return to Gilead once more unless June starts to feel desperate. Her options are limited, but she can still count on the resistance to support their valiant commander. Serena will begin her new position right away. She must first hire some personnel, and it appears she has a sizable fan base to aid in the hiring process.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Episode 4 Details Review

The cliffhanger endings in The Handmaid’s Tale have always been excellent, and episode 3 is no exception. I honestly believed Serena would be abducted when June appeared at the very end. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened, but it’s obvious that Fred’s passing impacted Gilead and beyond. Disgustingly ironic that this authoritarian system uses a woman’s voice to advance its “diplomatic agenda” despite Serena being essentially pushed out of Gilead. Aunt Lydia’s character development has been excellent and certainly highlighted during this five-season run. She is restrained by the laws of Gilead and the Lord, but we are aware of her sincere love for her daughters. It’s certainly unexpected to see her praying for Janine and being prepared to give her life. The main focus of the drama in this episode is trying to get Hannah out of Gilead, just like in the first several seasons, which does advance the plot. But given that she is now a system girl and previously feared June, why should this time be any different? All is left on a razor’s edge, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
