Episode 4 : Milkmaids A smallpox epidemic wreaked havoc on a community in New England during the 18th century. Thomas tells Walter, the pastor of the hamlet, about the urban legend that the disease smallpox can be healed by eating the hearts of victims who have lately passed away. This is what Walter does, and he urges the members of his congregation to do the same. As a result, Celeste, a prostitute who had tried to warn the community about how dishonest Walter is, is shunned by the community. She finds safety and companionship with a milkmaid, Delilah, and the two start a romance. Delilah has realized that she and Celeste are immune to smallpox due to their previous exposure to cowpox, which they both had in the past. Delilah begs the villagers to stop eating hearts that have been taken directly from the bodies of the deceased, and she offers them milk from an afflicted cow to protect themselves from the disease. Walter makes his condemnation of her public. After attacking Celeste, he stabs Thomas, confessing that Celeste is Edward’s mother. Celeste is the victim of his assault. After killing Walter, Delilah is herself put to death by Thomas before Walter succumbs to his wounds and passes away. Edward, ignorant that Celeste is his biological mother, repeats Walter’s comment that a milkmaid is dirty and then proceeds to take Celeste’s heart out of her body and devour it.

Both Lena and another friend named Maggie ignore Mary’s demands, which ultimately leads to their tragic deaths. Elise unearths the fact that Mary was an escaped enslaved person who had been re-captured and was being imprisoned at a cottage after her capture. Using this information, Elise and Bianca design a plan to kill Mary by luring her to the cabin, where they will then execute the plan. Elise says that Mary begged for blood from three innocent individuals; she killed Lena and Maggie, and she now intends to kill Bianca. Mary makes an appearance, and Elise reveals this information. However, in the act of self-defense, Bianca ends up killing Elise. Mary reveals that her spirit was unable to escape its prison because she had abused the abilities bestowed upon her by the divinity Mami Wata. Bianca submits her soul to Mary and demonstrates that she has kept her vow. The result is that Mary is freed, and Bianca takes her position as the new “Bloody Mary” as she prepares to deal with anyone who attempts to summon Mary.
